Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actress, dancer and vocalist since the mid 1990s. In her early Broadway performances, she starred the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. She was awarded her Tony Award for Best Featured actor in a Play to play Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford has spent her career collaborating with acclaimed directors and actors across stage film and television and she will continue that collaboration with a variety of upcoming projects. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's exclusive Hulu program Welcome to Chippendales which premieres November 22. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust which stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film will stream through Disney's DTC platforms, as well as Hulu Original. Ashford is set to appear opposite Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the upcoming March 2023 production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will serve as the creators of the production. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. This show is based around the National Crisis that saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp at the center of the first impeachment proceeding in America during the Over 100 Years. Ashford was a part of two seasons in the CBS successful comedy B Positive. Also, she was a part of the cult series, created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, which featured famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. A veteran of Broadway Ashford has won both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her performance as Essie. The actress has also performed in Broadway on Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde and the first character of Lauren In Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for the Tony Award. She was born and grew up in Denver Ashford is now dividing the time in Los Angeles and New York.
